Swasthavritta department

The primary aim of Ayurveda is to preserve the health of healthy individual. It laid down all the preventive principles for maintaining healthy life under the subject Swasthavritta. It mainly focuses on prevention and precaution. In short it is preventive medicine of Ayurveda which mainly deals with the personal hygiene, social hygiene, communicable - non communicable diseases with their prevention, community medicine etc. In modern medical science, it is known as Preventive and Social Medicine or Community Medicine.
Along with that Swasthavritta also deals with Yoga and Naturopathy. Yoga is nector of Ayurveda which mainly deals with the ancient art of yoga and its principles for maintaining long healthy life. Yogasana & Pranayama are the main pillars of Yoga for attaining a healthy life.
Naturopathy is drugless system of healing based on Panchabhoutic philosophy which builds harmony in man with the constructive principles of Nature and has great health promotive, disease preventive and curative as well as restorative potential. Hence, the department of Swasthavritta and Yoga is combination of personal hygiene, social hygiene, Yoga & Naturopathy.
The subject is included in Third Year Syllabus in B.A.M.S. course. In this subject many different kinds of preventive methods are given for promotion of health, not only physical health but also social, mental & spiritual health of person. The mission of the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga is to promote longevity with improved quality of life at the level of the individual as well as the community. Facilities in the Department
